The (short) story of Betsy's life

I was born on June 1, 1958 in Salt Lake where my father was attending the University of Utah. After he finished his undergraduate work, we moved to Birmingham, Alabama for medical school. When my father graduated from medical school he joined the Army so over the next few years our family had the opportunity to live in several different cities, including Honolulu, Ft. Knox, San Antonio, and Colorado Springs. We finally settled in Decatur, Alabama where I met and in 1979 married Robert (Butch) Green.

I have always loved to write but decided to make a serious attempt at writing a novel during the fall of 1999. It took me 8 months to complete my first book which was later rejected by publishers. My second attempt, Hearts in Hiding, was published in May of 2001.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to write books, but there can be no question that the greatest accomplishments of my life were - first marrying Butch and second - becoming the mother of the eight greatest people I know.

                                                                                The Green Children -

Sarah Catherine - Cathy is still proofreading at home part-time and has been released as our ward organist but she fills in regularly - so I still get to watch (and hear) her play. She's our Young Women's president and does a wonderful job of leading the girls (sometimes with tough love!) Ricky is the ward executive secretary. Abbie made the A/B Honor Roll to finish up the 2nd grade and is excited about starting 3rd grade in August. She was be baptized on April 30th. Andie just turned three and is 'illarious' (her own word).

Laura Amanda - Laura and her family are settled in a townhouse in Rexburg. Laura has been working part-time at the hospital but she's now on maternity leave. Josh is installing satelites and creating Apps for the I-phone. They have been called as nursery leaders in their ward and Harrison is a great big brother! Atticus is precious and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with them this summer.

James Robert - Jamie stays busy running Subways while Paris takes online college classes and chases after Banx. They just bought a house which put them in a new ward. They were sorry to say goodbye to their friends in Columbiana - but love the Oak Mountain Ward. Jamie is the exectutive secretary and Paris is a Primary teacher and Banx is going to nursery!!!! And he has HAIR!!! It's white but it's there. We are so proud.

Grace Elizabeth - Grace works for a law firm while Aaron works two part-time jobs and goes to school. They are very busy but happy and I'm proud of them for being such hard workeres. They recently moved in to the basement at Aaron's Mom's house - which she has beautifully renovated for them. This puts them back in our ward - which makes me really happy. And they are expecting their first baby in December!

John Thomas - Tommy returned home from his mission to Uganda on Thursday, July 8th! It was so wonderful to see him and he is slowly making the transition from missionary to regular person. He has gotten even more handsome over the past two years. And he is just a pleasure to be around. I don't know how I'll let him leave for BYU in a few weeks - but somehow I will.

Emily Anne -Emily had a good time at home. Even though she never found an actual job, she was able to do a lot of babysitting and other odd jobs for friends and managed to save up a nice amount of money, with which she purchased a used car in Rexburg. She's back at school and we miss her - but Laura, Josh and Harrison sure are happy!!! Time flies and this semester will be over soon! Then she'll be home for a few weeks before going back for the fall semester.

Joseph Andrew - Andy is working hard this summer - football workouts and cutting grass for our Bishop's landscaping company. He's excited about being a senior in the fall. He did well on his ACT and now we are looking toward college applications. Talk about time flying...

William Clayton - Clay is huge. He's probably grown a foot in the last year. According to the doctor he's 5'8" tall and weighs 145 pounds. I can'
t believe my baby is so big.
